About Orchid Society of Assam
Established in December 2018, the Orchid Society of Assam is a passionate collective of orchid enthusiasts, botanists, environmentalists, and science students from across the state. The society was born out of a shared commitment to conserve Assam’s native orchid species and protect their natural habitats.

Conserve native orchids in their natural habitats through scientific study and sustainable practices.
Protect nature and the environment by promoting biodiversity and ecological balance.
Raise awareness among students and the general public about the importance of wild orchids and their habitats.
Publish research journals and newsletters to share knowledge, discoveries, and conservation strategies.
Rescue and regenerate endangered orchid species through fieldwork, documentation, and propagation efforts.
Our Details
The inaugural meeting took place at Silapathar Science College, where it was resolved to form a state-level organization dedicated to orchid conservation and environmental awareness. The society’s head office is located within the Silapathar Science College campus, serving as the central hub for all its activities.
To ensure effective governance and execution of its mission, the society formed two key bodies:

The Orchid Society of Assam is officially registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, with Registration No. R/DMJ/241/D/08.
